Thirty years later...

I'm getting very excited for Tim's birthday (Next Thursday). HE WILL BE 30!!!! I can't say what I've got for him becuase it's way awesome... at least for him it will be! To the rest of us... not so much! But, I don't want him to find out! And if for some freak reason he decides to read this blog then my surprise is ruined. We don't normally do much for our birthday's other than go to dinner or something, but I think we'll have a party next weekend, with a bbq and ice cream cake from Dairy Queen! MMM* I think it's important to make a big deal of someones 30th birthday! I don't think Tim really cares that he's 30... at least he doesn't say much about it.

THE POWER OUTAGE OF '08

So, of course I was at work when the Great Power Outage occurred as I'm sure most of you were. We all assumed the power would only be out a few minutes, but then as time started to pass everyone began to wonder what was going on. I swear people even started saying things like "...ever since 9-11 you just don' t know what can happen". We frantically searched for a battery powered radio and to our luck found a teeny tiny radio (literally about 2"x 2"). We tuned in to a station that was taking phone calls from anyone and everyone (as I think all the stations were). People were amazed at driving from Lincoln to Milford and not seeing any lights/electricity. One lady called and said "my friends mom works at Bangor Hydro and she said they were working on something and something went wrong". Clearly, this lady is a moron for calling in and second of all what she was saying was WRONG! The spokes person for Bangor Hydro was on the radio and talked about the lightening hitting the Orrington transmitter or whatever and that almost all of their customer had no power. Good Lord, NO POWER for all of Bangor Hydro customers? How could they let such a thing happen? There's no back up for when a transmitter goes down? Anyway, the 2 hours of blackness was actually rather fun at work. Everyone was in a great mood because they didn't have to work.

I wonder if Bangor Hydro will ask Channel 5 to help them release a documentary of The Power Outage of '08.

Tim's NEW room

We've begun working on the room in the basement. It was one of the projects we were really hoping to finish this summer! As you can see from the photos we have removed one wall and we are extending the room a couple more feet. Jason and Dad worked on it this weekend. Jason is my Project Manager while Dad is just a little helper (haha). But seriously, Jason is pretty much the one I'm leaning on to help get this done for us. Tim had been so indecisive about everything regarding the room so I just took charge (naturally) otherwise it would have never been started! So, really Tim wasn't very excited until he came home Sunday and saw the room. Now he can't wait to be down there. The room is bigger than the Purple Room. And I'm excited to create my "spare" bedroom/my office/scrap area/MY SPACE. :)

I'm hoping to get Dad and Jason over this weekend to work on it some more. We need to get some more material and I have Lew (my stepdad) coming to do the outlets once the studs are up (or is it "in"??, whatever). I love knowing people who can help with this stuff so we don't have to hire someone. Although, it would be much nicer if Tim and I could do this stuff on our own, but we just ain't that smart!

I Love Craig Ferguson

I rarely ever stay up late, but since I had slept so much yesterday I couldn't possibly go to sleep before 3a.m.! So I got a chance to watch Craig Ferguson. I friggin' love this guy! He is my favorite Late Night Show host by far!! When I watch him it's one of the few times I truly laugh out loud while watching TV.

Oh Boy

mi·graine –noun
an extremely severe paroxysmal headache, usually confined to one side of the head and often associated with nausea; hemicrania
.

I knew when I went to bed last night that I didn't have just any headache that a good nights sleep would wash away. Oh no, I knew when I woke up this morning it would be nasty. Little did I know how truely agonizing it was going to be to just get out of bed. Usually I can get up and walk around, jump in the shower, and eat some breakfast and feel a little better. This morning was ridiculous! I could barely stand without wanting to cry from the pain. And after about 10 minutes of being out of bed I knew this was no regular headache. I slept off and on (mostly on) until 3:00 this afternoon!!! I'm pretty dungy feeling now from all that sleep, but my headache is gone.
Tim and I are just chilling out listening to some music. I think we actually get along our best if we're just sitting quietly listening to music. haha!!

Sister Day!

For quite a few months now Karen and I have set a side a Sister Day each month. We try and do something together on that day. Although, we did just go to the beach on Saturday, that was not Sister Day. Sister Day is the 15th of each month!

We decided to go bowling today! We had a fairly good time, but I think in our minds we thought we would have a ridiculously good time! We both immediatly agreed that bowling at the Sports Arena does not compare to bowling in my living room on the Wii!! And I think if there was more than just 2 of us in the entire building it would have been a little more fun (okay, so 2 couples had shown up shortly after we got there, but you get the idea).

Tim's friends are over jamming in the purple room. I actually really don't mind when they play over here. I like some of the songs they cover and occasionally I find myself singing along. =)

Sand Beach and some hot bods!

Karen and I packed a lunch and went to Sand Beach in Bar Harbor for a few hours today. We hadn't been since we were young so we didn't recall the COST to get in. 20 freakin' dollars dudes! We had to pay for the 7 day pass because there is no 1 day pass! But, it was worth it at least this time it was, we probably will not return any time soon (well, unless we make it back within the next 7 days, haha).

The water was pretty chilly, as the ocean normally is. What we hated was the seaweed that clung to our legs in the water when the waves came in, yuck! And the ridiculous amount of sand that ended up in places sand is never suppose to be! Now I'm a little on the burnt side, but that's okay I'm hoping it'll tan right up! And I think all that sun is what is making me feel really sleepy.

Seriously Dudes

Tim just got done mowing the lawn... well the back yard. Which means the front yard is for me to do probably tomorrow though. I surely ain't doin' it tonight! Mowing the lawn is something I need to get mentally prepared for. OKay, that sounds a little much, but I just wasn't planning on doing it tonight.

As you may have noticed the last picture is of a DEAD plant. I just don't understand why plants are such desired pieces of viewing pleasure (what?). In my case it has NO viewing PLEASURE whatsoever! I was told that I have to water this plant daily... I did my "whatthehelldidyoujustsay" laugh. You can't really think I would water this thing DAILY! Honestly, what is a plant, why can't we leave them in the "wild"? Seriously Dudes, they are like wild creatures and just don't belong in a hanging pot. Yet, family seems to think it's a much needed accessory to a new home so I have 2, an outdoor plant and an indoor. My "wild" indoor plant is doing well, fortunately for the plant he only needs to be watered every couple of weeks or so.

Camp Camp Camp

Camp was wonderful again this year! We had a really great time!! I decided to keep the pictures to a limit (under 40). I normally go crazy and then have like 30 duck pictures and 20 Tim pictures. Then they all look the same from year to year! We left Tuesday afternoon, Karen and Jason came up on Thursday night. They brought their camper to stay in (the beds in the camp SUCK!). Jared and Leigh came up Friday night so there was 6 of us partying it up for the 4th. We thought for sure we would catch some fireworks from some where along the lake. We did see some in the distance and we heard some that were close, but not close enough because we couldn't see them.

We really didn't want to leave this year. It was so beautiful Saturday, but it was Karen's birthday and I wanted to go out with her. And it was nice to have Sunday to get laundry done and just relax before going back to work.

We went to The Ground Round for dinner. Then Karen, Jason and I went to the Sports Arena, played some pool and watched the race. I actually got into the friggin race!! Jason is a Kyle Busch fan (and he won) so that was interesting. I didn't know much about how races worked other than the boring dumbness of going in circles for a ridiculous amount of laps at like 190 mph! But I learned some things and I liked it. NO I'm not about to start watching them every weekend, but maybe once and awhile! =)

I have finally have my computer back so you may see more blogging from me!
